TYCO SEMINAR

Ali A. Tamimi/Tyco Seminar was held on 17 October 2009 in Riyadh. The seminar was organized by Tamimi Team and it was attended by more than 40 delegates from Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), Ministry of Water & Electricity (MOWE), Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Saudi Factory for fire equipment Company (SFFECO), Gas Company (GASCO), and King Saud University (KSU). The seminar was opened by Mr. Loay Marzouk (Tyco Saudi Sales Manager) and he provided an overview of Tyco, Then Tyco Products & Industry Manager Mr. Philippe Claeys provided presentation about Tyco products and solutions. The seminar was successful and it was an opportunity to meet our current and potential customers in Saudi.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE GROUP

Tamimi group is one of the prominent organizations owned standard class business in the kingdom. Nature of our business is wholesaler and retailer, importing varieties of Foods, Non Food products and Equipments by Sea and Air freight from various countries for our kingdom wide chain supermarkets. Totally it is around 200 containers of Dry food, Non Food and Frozen by sea and about 100 Chilled Meat, Produce and Dairy shipment receiving yearly by Air approximately 10 to 15 shipments per month accordingly. THE TAMIMI GROUP

TAMIMI/MOGS AGREEMENT

Tamimi Trading and MOGS ( Mining Oil and Gas Services ) have signed an agreement where Tamimi Trading will be representing MOGS in Saudi Arabia.

TAMIMI TEAM VISIT GE JENBACHER FACILITY

GE's Jenbacher gas engines division is one of the world's leading manufacturers of gas-fueled reciprocating engines. It is one of the only companies in the world focusing exclusively on gas engine technology .

Tamimi Trading Sales team visited GE's Jenbacher head quarters in Austria and visited the whole facility.

TAMIMI / TYCO PRESENTATION

The presentation was held in the most important factory of the Tyco group. The factory in sympell in Germany . Tamimi presentation was prepared and presented by three sales engineers (Abdulrahman Al Omair , Bassam Al Mohaidb , Naif Al Qahtani), It gives some background and a brief about our organization and our company as well and talk about the present market of valves in Saudi Arabia and finally we talk about how we see the future between our company and Tyco group specially sympell factory.

I can say it was a great opportunity to share the experience with one of the most important and experience valve manufacturer in the world and I hope to have the chance with other manufactures in the future. Note to forget to say that the presentation was win the
“Best Presentation” made in the trip and that because of the good sprite and team work between the members.

GAS TURBINE TRAINING BY TAMIMI FOR SEC

Tamimi Trading Technical Manager Mr. Bob Johnston has put together a set of training presentations on Gas Turbine technology. The initial 3 day session was held in May, 2008, for the Tamimi team, in Al-Khobar. This was followed up several identical 3-day gas turbine training sessions with the SEC Materials teams at the SEC-East facilities, per agreements with SEC Executive Director of Materials. Over 80 SEC Materials Department personnel attended these training sessions. The basic course consisted of 21 different presentations on the GE Gas Turbine product line, including:

• Gas Turbine product line orientation
 
• Fuels and emissions
 
• GE Gas Turbine Documentation systems, and the Supersedure process for spare part
 
• latest advanced technology Capitol Parts for all frame sizes
 
• GER/GEI/GEK GE publications Library
 
• uprate presentations for all frame sizes
 
• Gas Turbine performance characteristics, performance testing, and the impact that Operations and maintenance activities can have on Output.

All sessions were informal, so as to allow for numerous questions, to make sure everyone had a full understanding of the course content. Certificates were given to all show attended the gas turbine training sessions. The attached picture above shows the first class receiving their certificates.

COLLABERATION AND COOPERATION

Many of us are not familiar with all of the Tamimi Group businesses and all of the activities of our partners in the Kingdom. Your awareness of these businesses can be of benefit to both them and to us. By participating together we are able a provide a broader offering of solutions for our customers than if we work alone. During the past year we have worked harder to encourage this. One of the best examples has been our ongoing initiative at exhibitions, where we find more and more partners participating with greater and greater success. Another good example of the value of collaboration and cooperation are our “Tamimi Power Group” meetings. These are conducted informally about every 6 weeks. Participants include all Tamimi power related businesses; GE Water, GE Sensing, GE Fanuc, MEELSA, MEPCO, GEII, SESCO, ENERCO and us. Without exception everyone leaves the meetings having discovered new opportunities. In the future we would enjoy have any of you attend. I am confident you will gain from it while making a valuable contribution to the group. In the future we look forward to expanding this initiative further by making our new training facilities available to all of our partners, housing the GE turbine library and encouraging our partners to use our offices in Dhahran, Riyadh, Jeddah and Jubail.

DCC COLLECTED 500 C.V’S!

Dammam Community College graduation ceremony was sponsored by Tamimi Group, and Sr. Sales Engineer Naif al-Qahtani gave the opening speech, and received the honoring from DCC vice president. On a side note, the HR team have collected 500 C.V’s that day !

THE SUPPLIERS LEAN WORKSHOP

Since Ali A. Tamimi Co. is among the top suppliers to Saudi Aramco, Tamimi got the opportunity to host the lean workshop on Tamimi Training center. Aramco vision is to continue the journey to expand the benefit to partners, vendors, Supply Chain. to give an opportunity to vendors to host 4 workshops at their facilities in order to improve the communications between all partners in our Supply Chain. The Workshop objective was to enable employees to think & do differently in order to accomplish an effective Supply Chain mission,to think Process, not just function, to Satisfy customers more effectively, to Eliminate waste (non valueadded steps), Free up resources to do the value-added steps, Decrease rework, and Reduce waiting. The interaction was amazing with all Tamimi Companies and others, it was the biggest work shop done in 2009.

INDUSTRIAL SOLUTIONS DIVISION

Tamimi industrial solutions division is part of Ali A. Tamimi trading company and established in 2005. We started to support GE projects by fronting some contracts between GE and government entities. Today, we are independent to execute our projects with our customers and we build up a qualified team to serve our customers with best quality. These projects include turbine projects, gas turbine filters and exhaust systems upgrades and replacement, and protective coatings. The Projects Department as it was named when it was first established, had been changed toIindustrial Solutions Division. Starting with Projects manager only and getting to General Manager, 2 Managers, 8 Engineers, and 5 Supervisors to develop the business and grow with increasing services demand in Saudi. The capability had changed as well from depending on subcontractors to execute the jobs with Tamimi team application. Today we have 3 mobile shops equipped with highly advanced equipment like airless spray machines. Tamimi had enlarged the size of the material warehouse and we are working at building our new coating shop within Aramco standard to make sure that we are doing a great job as expected by our customers.

SHEIKH ALI ABDULLAH ALTAMIMI-MAY ALLAH HAVE MERCY ON HIM

The warehouse officer who turned out to be one of the pillars of national economy. starting from Onaizah,he became one of the first founders of commercial and industrial work in the Kingdom. Struggle and wisdom of men should be reserved in the memory of history. In his life, lessons to be learnt by many generations to come. he made a name for himself ,that, not only competes with local rich businessmen but international businessmen too. Rich but not for his wealth which its language is “numbers” but rich for his experience which became the centre of admiration by many others. A long life filled with struggle and sedulity, with Allah’s blessings the warehouse officer Ali Abdullah AlTamimimay Allah have mercy on him became one of the most important icons and pillars of the national economy who contributed in spreading commercial and industrial work in the kingdom. Because of his sincerity and integrity in his work, when the Gas entered Saudi Arabia through Bahrain, officers at ARAMCO offered him to take over the business of dropping goods coming from Bahrain, his name as a business man was linked to many projects, in particular extending pipe lines with ARAMCO. He opened the first gas station in the Eastern Province which was in “Abqaiq” then he opened the first automatic laundry in Dammam and a company for transportation too. In the early 70’s,he co‐founded the first internationaln supermarkets with Sheikh Abdullah Fouad which is called right now “AlTamimi Safeway”. In addition, he founded many companies which contributed heavily to the “fifth plan” in the kingdom. He owned international commercial and industrial agencies which contributed heavily in moving and pushing the wheels of the national economy. He believed that to be sincere in your work, you have to take care of people around you because a human being without his society is nothing.

WORD FROM OIL & GAS MANAGER

I have now been working with Tamimi for almost three months and am thoroughly enjoying life in Saudi with this dynamic company. I have met so many people since being here but no doubt there are still many I have not met yet and so to you I say a warm hello.
I have lived in the Middle East off and on since 1975 this was also the year I married. I have also worked in the UK, Nigeria and Australia, I first came to live and work in Al- Khobar with my wife and children in 1988, then again in 2002 and this time we stayed for six years.
. John has a vision which is exciting and all of us have a role to play in making that vision become a reality. I can see that our team is very experienced and committed and I am proud to be a part of that team and look forward to working with you all in the years to come.
